That’s why we created our electric fence planner—so nothing important gets left out of your package!
But if you’re confident you have all the necessary electric fence supplies and only need the device, visit the Electric Fences menu!
During the planning process, we’ll ask you 8 questions, and once answered, you’ll see penny-precise, instant itemized prices.
If you’d like to read more about individual components, scroll down the page to find photos and technical details about everything.
1What animal do you want to use it for?
Based on this, we’ll automatically suggest the number of wires and the type of tape or cord, which you can adjust later.
2What’s the perimeter of the area you want to enclose?
It’s important that this is the perimeter of your land. Don’t multiply it by the number of wires!
3How many detachable sections do you want?
In other words, how many gates do you want to build into your system?
4How many parallel wires should we calculate for?
Based on the selected animal, you’ll see our recommended number, but feel free to adjust it.
5What type of posts do you have/will you use?
Currently, you can only buy plastic posts from us. If you want a different type, you’ll need to arrange that yourself. The big advantage of plastic posts is that you don’t need insulators for them.
6What power source do you want to use?
Your electric fence will come standard with battery terminals or clips for a 12V battery, but you can request a 230V version, a solar panel, or any combination of these. Choose whether you want a plug-in adapter, a solar panel with a charge controller, or a 12V lead-acid battery!

8Would you like to insure it against theft?
Many people wonder what happens if their electric fence or solar panel gets stolen. Fortunately, at Vadalarm, this isn’t an issue—you can insure both your solar panel and fence against theft. You can prove the theft with a copy of a police report. The insurance cost is always tailored to the price of the device and solar panel. Feel free to check it, as you can remove it from your cart later.
9How about remote monitoring for your fence?
Based on the parameters you provided earlier, we’ll automatically select a suitable electric fence device for you. However, if you specifically request it, we’ll include a WiFi or mobile network-enabled fence in your quote. Of course, the calculation doesn’t mean an immediate purchase, so feel free to choose either option. So, ready for cutting-edge tech?
10Should we help with installation too?
We understand that not everyone has the time or energy to master the ins and outs of electric fence installation. Luckily, we have partners who can assist you. Provide your phone number, and we’ll connect you with an official Vadalarm partner to take this burden off your shoulders.
11Do you need a quote for a grant application?
Just check the box, and we’ll prepare an official, stamped quote that you can immediately attach to your current grant application.
We’re done! You can see the individual items in the table. If everything looks good, click the Order button! If you requested installation help, you won’t see its price yet, as we’ll contact you separately about that using the phone number you provided.

Surely you don’t want to discover a malfunction in your carefully built and costly electric fence system days later, right? Malfunctions can’t be entirely avoided—think of an aging battery or a tree falling in a storm. That’s where Vadalarm Electric Fence Monitoring comes in handy.
Our in-house system checks your fence’s status every 5 minutes and alerts you promptly if it detects any issues. The best part? It doesn’t alter the system’s structure—if you check this option in the calculator, we’ll integrate the electronics into your fence and link the data to your Vadalarm account. By the time you receive your package, a green box like the one shown here will appear in your account, always displaying the latest status.
Imagine what you did when your fence’s battery ran out: driving, walking, carrying, charging. Does your back tense up just reading the name of the new Olympic sport ‘battery carrying’? Let us prove to you that it doesn’t have to be this way.
Now imagine how convenient life could be if the power always recharged your batteries. Ultimately, true freedom comes from machines you buy once and then don’t have to worry about. Our solar panels are just that: place them according to the instructions, and you’re done. We deliver the solar panel with the charge controller already mounted on a sturdy steel bracket, so aside from attaching the battery clips, you have nothing else to do.

You can guess we’re prepared for this too. You can request our Theft Insurance service for both the fence device and the solar panel. This is an extension of the standard technical warranty to cover theft as well. You only need to prove the theft with a copy of a police report. It applies to both the solar panel and the fence, even if only one is stolen. You can add Theft Insurance in the calculator. It’s up to you to decide if it’s worth it for peace of mind.
Tape wire is typically used for horses. In our calculator, we’ve selected a 20 mm wide tape wire with 7.34 Ohm/meter resistance, 90 kg tensile strength, and 6 stainless steel strands, perfectly meeting the most common needs. As you can see in the picture, we supply it in 200-meter rolls. If the calculations result in a length not divisible by 200, we automatically round it up to whole rolls.
90% of electric fence systems are built with cord. This is mainly due to its lower cost (compared to tape) and better technical parameters. If you don’t specifically need tape, you’ll almost always be better off choosing cord wire. The cord we supply (shown in the picture) comes in 400-meter rolls, so our calculator rounds your order to whole rolls. When selecting the cord, we ensured the best price-to-value ratio, which is why we chose this type with a 330 kg load capacity and an extremely low 0.125 Ohm per meter resistance.

The Vadalarm products are so popular from the beginning because the simple formation is owing that you can install it easily.
The larger the area, the more parallel wires you should use. Regardless, it’s not the wire length but the maximum perimeter that’s capped at 5 km. So, if I want to enclose a 3 km perimeter with 5 rows of wire, even 15 km of total wire length isn’t an issue.
Theft insurance lasts for 1 year. If your device is stolen within a year of purchasing the insurance and you can prove it with a police report, we’ll send you a new one, even within 1 day. After a year, you can renew the insurance. As long as the insurance is active, we’ll provide a new device for any theft.
A fence installed according to regulations and instructions typically doesn’t cause serious injury, but unfortunately, this risk can’t be entirely ruled out. That’s why it’s mandatory to mark the electric fence with a warning sign.
If you contact our customer service, we can likely recommend an electric fence installation partner. If you decide to install the system yourself, read our e-book on the topic, which we’ll send you after subscribing to our newsletter!
Thanks to its smart control, the Vadalarm Plus fence generates short pulses that are unpleasant but not life-threatening. When it detects a problem, our intelligent fence shuts off or adjusts itself.
The ideal angle for a solar panel depends on the time of day, orientation, and season. However, there’s a near-perfect angle that provides near-maximum efficiency year-round. We’ve set and welded this angle into the bracket, so you can leave it out all year.
When placing the solar panel, just ensure it faces south, isn’t shaded, and is at least 1.5-2 m high. Occasionally clean its surface to avoid dust buildup, which can reduce efficiency. Thanks to its weather-resistant coating, it withstands hail. For mounting, we recommend a sturdy stake or steel post with a maximum diameter of 11 cm, as the set includes a 100-120 mm Awab clamp.
This is one of the most common questions about powering an electric fence. A battery that’s too large will be heavy and expensive, while one too small risks shutting down your system (even with a solar panel during long cloudy periods). There are many battery types, but based on our experience, you just need a (even slightly used) 12V lead-acid battery and connect it to the system. Gel, AGM, or dedicated solar batteries are even better. For an average system, we recommend a 50-60 Ah battery.
Installing a Vadalarm electric fence is extremely straightforward. Just follow these steps:
1 First, mark the path of the fence wire, then drive a post into the ground every 5-6 meters. Attach the wire to these using the appropriate plastic insulators. Make sure to trim the undergrowth beneath and cut back any overhanging branches.
2 Once that’s done, decide where to place your fence’s central unit, then set your 12V battery next to it (any battery will do). If possible, choose a safe, sheltered spot. If you bought a solar panel, you can easily attach it to a post with two clamps. Ensure nothing shades it.
3 Here comes one of the most important steps: find a spot where the soil isn’t rocky and is sufficiently moist. Drive at least 3 (preferably stainless) metal rods into the ground here. Connect them to each other and to the fence’s negative terminal. Use insulated wire for this!
4 All that’s left is to connect the finished fence wire to the positive terminal of the fence device and attach the fence’s terminals to the battery. If you ordered a solar panel, we’ve already connected it for you. Turn it on, and you’re done!
+1 Tip: If you want to enclose a plot with a perimeter longer than 1 kilometer, adding multiple parallel wires can make the system even stronger.
